The story — Long Beach Bar Light is locally known as Bug Light because its original screw-pile silhouette resembled a water bug. Fire destroyed the 1871 light in 1963; a near-replica was built at Greenport Yacht and Shipbuilding and returned to the original foundation in 1990.
